I am playwright, fiction writer and designer. My work is inspired by the Hungarian expression: “Life is hopeless, but not serious.” I love the tension that exists between hopelessness and hilarity. The delicate balance of humor and darkness is the foundation for my voice as a writer. This often takes the form of satire.
I am a nonlinear storyteller interested in alternative structures. I also believe in crossing the boundaries between genres and mediums when it benefits the narrative. I am drawn to speculative fiction, particularly magical realism, science fiction and fantasy. I see speculative fiction as a way to explore societal dilemmas in an imaginative space that is free from the confines of our physical and political realities.
My worldview is best expressed by the words of Jorge Luis Borges: “We (the indivisible divinity that works in us) have dreamed the world. We have dreamed it resistant, mysterious, visible, ubiquitous in space and firm in time, but we have allowed slight, and eternal, bits of the irrational to form part of its architecture so as to know that it is false.”
